State funds program for women tech entrepreneurs

Pennsylvania has awarded a state grant to a program aimed at fostering women's entrepreneurship.

Philadelphia-based DreamIt Ventures will put $491,930 in funding from the Department of Community and Economic Development toward launching DreamIt Athena, which aims "to bring the best and brightest female technology entrepreneurs to Pennsylvania to launch their businesses."

The program will take place from February through May; the deadline to apply is Dec. 8.
